6'2'' Tamil Movie
A.P.Film Gardens produced 6'2" is a film that would interest the fans of "crime-suspense-romance-comedy" in the frontbench. Presumably that is why the film is still running.
Here goes the story…
James (Sathyaraj) is employed at a call center. He works through nights and returns home at dawn. One day, while returning home in a morning, James witnesses a brutal murder of labor union leader (Ajay Rathnam) in a train. He stands as a sole witness for this murder.
On the instructions of the police (Raj Kapoor), James and Aishwarya (Sunita Varma) - a police informer, masquerade as a married couple and sets out to identify the murderer. But unnatural deaths continue. After a chain of events, James reveals his true identity and admits of committing the murders to revenge the killing of his parents. Later, he learns that his own sister is still alive and that she is in the clutches of the villains.
Can he save his sister? Does he fulfill his mission to wipe out the treacherous scoundrels? The remaining part of the story answers these questions.
The movie's major draw back is its weak script. It is not imaginative or strong enough to sustain the suspense or chill throughout the film. In fact the story drips into plain and uneventful action in the second half and the climax is rather anti-climatic as the outcome is glaringly obvious.
Much of the film's entertainment is centered on Sathyaraj's strong lead performance. His acting is spontaneous and his humor at times manages to evoke laughter. Vadivelu's comedy is enjoyable till he tows with the hero. Once he is delineated, his slapstick comedy becomes a drab. Sunita Varma looks alluring, and she has justified her meaty role through a decent, non-patchy performance.
Songs and some high-pitched background music scored by Imman is average. Moreover, the trashy songs inter-weaved at inappropriate places trivialize the story line.
V.Senthil Kumar, the debutant director lacks meticulousness or style that the story demands. For him, 6'2" is more of a classic film-making exercise than the film itself.
The supporting castes played by Ravindar (returning to big screen after a long break) as one of the villains and Raj Kapoor as a cop is good. However their characterization is highly underdeveloped.
The film proves good enough to leave you disappointed in every sense.
