Kyaa Kool Hai Hum Hindi Movie
Karan (Riteish Deshmukh) and Rahul (Tusshar Kapoor) are wannabe cool dudes. And then you have a serial killer who is on the loose. Dr. Screwvala (Anupam Kher) who actually is nutcase is given charge of this case. Rahul is mistaken to be the killer. Enter Inspector Urmila Martodkar (Isha Koppikar) who is a pain in ass (no pun) for every eve-teasing smart-ass. Urmila bolts with Screwvala to solve the case. And a comedy of errors – in fact an erroneous comedy follows. Meanwhile Karan gets into a happy and gay love liaison. He is happy until he finds his love is gay.
Director Sangeeth Sivan (earlier associated with action flicks like "Zor", "Chura Liyaa Hai Tumne") this time takes the less-traversed path in Bollywood of implied humor completely garnished with non-veg jokes. And with a comedy like this views and audience acceptability is entirely subjective. Let's accept the fact without being phony that suggestive comedy can be an entertaining genre if handled well. Not that KKHH is a masterpiece sex-comedy but it has it moments of laughter. Undoubtedly the gags vary from silly to sick to sexist. And at times the movie even goes visually vulgar to grammatically garish. But barring some scenes where the movie goes overboard, KKHH is enjoyable with a light-hearted open mind.
Sachin Yardi and Pankaj Trivedi's dialogues comprise of the age-old SMS and email humor to some new innovative ones. There is no solid story as such but the movie holds itself up with its fast-paced screenplay that hardly allows you breather for afterthoughts.
The movie doesn't boast of much technical expertise. Even Anu Malik's musical score is uninspiring except for a couple of passable tracks. Moreover the much-hyped track by the international band Rishi Rich is a poor composition and yawn inducing.
The movie could have been cooler if it weren't for its amateurish performances. The guys get all the meaty roles while the girls get the skinny ones. With a ‘til-on-her-dil' funda the camera has considerable excuse to consistently capture Isha Koppikar's cleavage shots. But all her oomph falls flat as soon as she opens her mouth. As a pan-chewing feminist inspector, not only does her pan-stained teeth look unappealing but also her ghati Marathi dialect is appalling. Sex appeal khallas! Neha Dhupia looks good but that's as long as she is seen onscreen.
Anupam Kher who gets sufficient screen footage after quite a long time plays almost a caricature. Tusshar Kapoor plays the dumb-head and for that he doesn't have to try too hard. But has he promised sister Ekta Kapoor a cowboy song in every film? Finally it's Riteish Deshmukh (who is soon making comedy as his forte in Bollywood) who succeeds in making you laugh for the major part of the movie with his poker-faced deadpan expressions.
If you plan to savor some non-veg ‘masti' for the weekend, Kyaa Kool Hai Hum is your cup of Kool-drink. Just ensure you keep back your mom and dad at home to avoid embarrassment. And take your girl with you only if she is willing to giggle on grotesque and gross gags.
