Sunday Holiday Malayalam Movie
At a glance, "Sunday Holiday" is meant for invoking positive vibes and confidence. Apparently, most of the characters keep an optimistic outlook to life. The storytelling is natural and realistic and a pleasant milieu is sustained throughout this comedy-drama.
Jis has shown his penchant for 'heaps of twists' in his debut film "Bicyle Thieves". In this flick too, he relies on the same tactic to a certain level. The film is about a cinema in cinema tale, narrated by Unni Mukundan (Sreenivasan) to a famous director David Paul (Lal Jose) while the latter is in hospital. Unni is a college professor but he longs to become a scriptwriter in films. Since its Unni Mukundan's script that unfolds before us in the form of another film, that realisation makes us insensitive to the turn of events. Perhaps this is the major drawback of "Sunday Holiday."
As per Unni's screenplay, Amal (Asif Ali) leaves for Kochi from Payyannur after a love failure. In the city, he lives along with Na. Kutty (Siddique), a dialogue writer and lyricist of remake films, and Rahul (Dharmajan Bolgatty). When Amal meets Anu (Aparna Balamurali), he finds new meanings in life. The story has been written by Urasu and Kiran. V.S.
Performance-wise, none of the roles seems to be too challenging for any of the seasoned actors; Asif Ali, Aparna Murali, Sreenivasan and Asha Sarath make their characters loveable. Alex. J. Pulickal shows his skills behind the camera and the alternate aerial shots of the city are appealing. A positive feeling keeps you cheerful in this feel good drama.
