A few unknown faces, names that hardly hold any importance in our lives and personalities that are least significant are actually those irrelevant few people without whom our life is not the same for even a single day. They are those helpers, who keep things in order forever yet are invisible to us.

Nayanchampa is one of them, she is the domestic help whom we need essentially everyday to fulfill our demands. But then we hardly identify or even bother to ponder over her struggles, her life is lesser than ordinary for us and she is that insignificant other.

Director Sekhar Das explores the stories of many such Nayanchampa's in Nayanchampar Dinratri. Roopa Ganguly as Nayanchampa brings out the hardships of these people with precision and does not for once look glamorized or inappropriate for this role. The other supporting and pivotal actors too shine out within their respective stints and gloriously establish the pains and pathos of the people in question.

The performances are certainly praiseworthy. But equally notable is the depiction of reality. The real outline of poverty and its consequence is remarkable. From Chandrayee Ghosh to Alokananda Roy everyone shines in their crafted to perfection roles.

The storyline is simple and is filled with stretched out mundane events. Yet, what will definitely pull a chord are the emotions. Emotions of struggle, hard work, merciless daily chores & ultimately a tumbling family.

Nayanchampar Dinratri narrates the everyday of people whom the city dwellers can't do without, but are actually the most neglected part of the society. A story about domestic helps, the film will help you realize a few things surely. Do watch for some thought provoking insights.
