Erra Bus Telugu Movie
Rajesh (Manchu Vishnu) is a small town boy raised by his grandpa Narayana (Dasari). Rajesh has the dollar dreams like every other youth and finally finds a way for himself to fly to USA. He has three months time to fly there and then he decides to spend some quality time with his grandpa and bring him to the city. The rest of the story is about how the old man with his innocence creates havoc in the life of Rajesh, residents of the community and even in the American consulate
Coming to performances, Dasari Narayana Rao stands out with his excellent performance in the subtle drama. Emotional films are not a forte of Manchu Vishnu and his struggle in the character is felt with the inconsistency. Catherine Tresa has got not much in the film and nothing great to talk about. Raghu Babu chips in to draw few laughs from the audience. Surya is good as the Apartment President. Rest of them are okay.
While getting full marks as an actor, Dasari ought to taste the brickbats as the director too. Erra Bus is the remake of Tamil film, Manjapai. But Dasari let down the successful script with the lack of imagination and innovation. The first half of the film is about the fastrack life of current day youth and by half way through the film comes Dasari as old man troubling his grandson as he is not aware of the modern day life. The treatment of the film is so old fashioned that audience struggle to connect to the film just as the old man in the city. The film definitely is a missed opportunity for Dasari.
Chakri's music is an average fare. Cinematography department needs good marks while Senior editor Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao must be crucified for an equal role in this mishap. He must have easily chopped off the Brahmanandam - Crow scene which irriates the audience to the core. Production values of Taraka Prabhu Films are fine.
Finally, Erra Bus is a total waste of opportunity. Little changes to the script to suit the taste of current generation would have done wonder. What Dasari delivered may be pleasing only if the film released late 80s.
