Telugu filmmakers should realise that procuring remake rights without analysing content is a futile exercise. "Donga Dongadi", a remake of Tamil hit "Thiruda Thirudi", has a wafer thin plot and its chances of making it are bleak.

Director Subramanya Siva tells the tale of a boy and a girl who are mostly at loggerheads but actually in love.

Even without showing a hint of love on the part of either, the director rounds it up on a fairy tale note. The resolution is unrealistic and it looks as if they were waiting for the director's nod to unite.

Debutant Manoj Kumar, second son of veteran actor Mohan Babu, is good in light-hearted scenes but has to improve his dancing and emoting. Mumbai-based model-cum-actress Sada looks mostly agitated but always pretty.

Sunil scores in the comedy track. Among the tunes, the racy number "Manmatha Raja" tops the album.

The story begins with Manoj Kumar getting a scolding from his father for neglecting his studies and wasting time with his friends. But Manoj ignores him.

The romance begins when Sada meets with an accident when Manoj chases her. She refuses to return the money he spent for her hospitalisation and they snub each other quite a few times.

When his prank leads to the arrest of his brother (Rajiv), Manoj decides to leave his parents and join a job in Visakhapatnam. Meanwhile, Sada gets a job there too and becomes Manoj's neighbour. Their quarrels continue.

She, however, gets jealous when Manoj dances with another girl. She slowly discovers her love for him. The rest of the story we will leave for the film to tell.

Unemployed youths should approach the director since he gets his hero a decent job despite the latter being a good-for-nothing.
