Madhurr Mittal on board for biopic on Muralitharan

Actor Madhurr Mittal of ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ fame will portray Sri Lankan cricket legend Muttiah Muralitharan in his biopic, titled ‘800’. The first motion poster of the film was unveiled on Monday, coinciding with the world-class off-spinner’s 51st birthday.

Produced by Movie Train Motion Pictures, the biopic is written and directed by MS Sripathy. "We are proud to bring you his story beyond the twists & turns across 22 yards. #HappyBirthdayMuralidaran. Presenting '800', the official bio-pic of #MuthiahMuralidaran starring #MadhurrMittal," the production banner posted on Twitter.

Earlier, actor Vijay Sethupathi was slated to portray the cricketer in the biopic, but he opted out of the project in 2020. The film is titled ‘800’ as it indicates the record number of wickets Muralidaran took in Test cricket.

The movie, which has cinematography by RD Rajasekar and music by Ghibran, will be released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. Click the Movie button below for more info:
