Mumbai, June 27 (IANS) Southern superstar Sudeep, host of the Kannada version of "Bigg Boss", gives credit to content and not his own popularity for the success of the reality show.

The first season of "Bigg Boss Kannada" has surpassed the popularity of Kannada version of the "Kaun Banega Crorepati" (KBC) game show with a 4.7 TRP rating and as many as 47,000 votes for individual contestants.

Out of 15 contestantsm, Arun Sagar, Narendra Babu Sharma, Vijay Raghavendra and Niktha Thukral have made it to the grand finale, which is June 29.

"Without much content I don't think we can keep pulling the audience," said the actor known for Kannada films like "Huchcha", "Kempe Gowda" and "Eega".

"Popularity can draw attention, but not for long. It is doing well. It might be marginal, but I don't want to take the credit. The audience always has an option to swap between the channels. But the TRP is steady and that means content rolls out," he added.

He also does not believe in taking feed back from family or other close members on the show.

"I don't take any feedback. I make it a compulsion that I don't. The first one who knows when you make a mistake will be yourself," said the actor.

"As far as feedback is concerned, I don't like it as feedback comes to me from people close to me and you can't take it seriously. You will know from people's gestures and TRPs and that is your feedback," he added.

The last three seasons of Hindi "Bigg Boss" had been hosted by Salman Khan, but Sudeep didn't watch the Bollywood superstar hosting the reality show.

"He is too huge for me to be standing and taking tips...The concept of the show attracted me. We have to take chance...I took my chance. 'Bigg Boss' house belongs to the contestants and the stage belongs to me. I could speak to the audience and be myself," said the actor who featured in Hindi movies "Phoonk 2" and "Rann".

Before he started, the actor did not have much idea about the concept of the show. "I had scene glimpses of it. I knew for sure that few people are put in the house. I didn't know the show at all as I am not a TV buff," he said.

Talking about the personalities in the house, he said: "They are all inside living through everything and they are all somebodies. They are all people who have their own name. They have given up a lot to be staying inside, which was an option. It is not right to be treating them as criminals," he said.
