In an era when the other two Khans are breaking into the 100 cr club by the end of the weekend, Salman Khan seems to have mellowed down with Jai Ho. The superstar’s latest managed a decent Rs 60.68 cr weekend collections (Domestic).

As already reported by us, the film took a rather slow opening on Friday with Rs 17.55 cr. While Saturday looked better initially, final collections only showed a further drop to Rs 16.68. Sunday figures were way better, showing a 64% jump since Saturday, and clocking Rs 26.25 cr.

Still a far cry from his usual record, even Salman Khan has admitted to the film not as doing as they may have hoped. “Meri picchle filmon ke hisab se collection thoda kam hai,” he ceded in an interview to a new channel in Mumbai. He also added that he is willing to take up responsibility if film turns a failure. “If, god forbid, the film does not pick up from Monday, I will take the blame on me,” he said.

In the meantime the overseas collections have been encouraging. The film collected Rs 22.38 cr from Pakistan, UK, US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and markets.

It may be mentioned that Eros International had reportedly bought the theatrical rights of Eros for a good Rs 110 cr. If they film was to make profits from them, the collections need to keep steady from here on. The corporate however seem pretty positive that the film is on course. “Salman fans have given a huge thumbs up to Jai Ho. The film is packed with Salman style action along with the emotion and message of the human chain of goodness and it has touched the right chord with his fans. This is an outstanding opening and his highest where we didn’t have the added advantage of a long weekend,” says Nandu Ahuja, Sr. VP, India Theatrical, Eros International Media Limited in a press statement.
