Salman Khan’s latest entertainer Jai Ho has opened to a rather tepid response in comparison to his last few films. The film, which has got one of the biggest releases ever amongst Bollywood movies courtesy the Eros International, managed to make just Rs 17.55 cr net (domestic) on its first day. The figures are officially provided by Eros.

While we have to take into account that Jai Ho released on working day, it was expected to at least break the record set by Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani for highest first day collection for a non-holiday release. What also adds up to the disappointment is that Jai Ho is Salman’s first release in over a year.

The reason behind this is being attributed to a less-than good pull at the multiplexes. Salman Khan’s Jai Ho currently stands at No. 11 in all time highest first day collections chart, which is topped my Dhoom 3, Chennai Express and Ek Tha Tiger.

On the positive side, the early trends for Saturday show a better response and the industry is hoping for much better numbers for the day.

It may be added, producer and director Sohail Khan had sold the film to Eros for a clean profit.
