Ghajinikanth receives flak even before it starts

Ghajinikanth is the name of the film which features Arya in the lead directed by Santhosh Jayakumar of Har Har Mahadevki fame. Ghajinikanth is being produced by Gnanavel Raja and Sayyesha Saigal plays Arya’s pair.

The first look of the film was released recently by Suriya, which had the hero Arya wearing a formal shirt, towel with a long innerwear but without the veshti. The look reminds viewers of the hilarious sequence from Rajini's 1988 film Dharmathin Thalaivan in which the superstar played an absent-minded professor.

But the poster has received flak from a few including producer Radhakrishnan, the former secretary of TFPC. According to him, the poster demeans Rajinikanth. He says in a press note, “Rajini sir is Tamil cinema’s pride and identity. Why should Gnanavel Raja name his film as Ghajinikanth, bringing disrespect to Rajinikanth sir and releasing a poster on the latter’s birthday?
