Female comedians don't get their due: Vidyullekha
Jul 3, 2014 NR
Actress Vidyullekha Raman who had a decent outing in Telugu with filmslike Yeto Vellipoindhi Manasu and Ramayya Vasthavayya feels the industry is looking down up on the female comedians and the makers are favoring male actors more.
"After the hay days of Manorama and Kovai Sarla, there is a dearth of female comedians. But the makers have done nothing in the direction to fill it up. In recent times, female comedians are being asked to play a crying shoulder for a heroine or paired opposite male comedians. We are not getting strong characters or due respect," Vidyu opined in an interview.
She says the makers of all South film industries rely heavily on male comedians and give very less significance to female comedians. Vidyu is currently awaiting the release of her Telugu film "Run Raja Run", which is directed by debutant Sujeeth in which she thinks she is offered a strong role.
