'Silver Linings Playbook' leads Spirit Awards nominations

Los Angeles, Nov 28 (IANS) Romantic comedy-drama "Silver Linings Playbook", directed by David O. Russell, is leading the nominations pack for the Film Independent Spirit Awards.

Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence are in competition for the best male lead and best female lead categories, respectively.

Other nominations for the movie are in categories like best film, best director and best screenplay, it was announced at the W Hotel Hollywood Tuesday, reports contactmusic.com.

It will compete against "Moonrise Kingdom", which also received five nominations, "Beasts of the Southern Wild", "Bernie" and "Keep the Lights On" in the best feature category.

The nominations were announced by Zoe Saldana and Anna Kendrick.

The awards will be handed out at an afternoon ceremony in Santa Monica, California, Feb 23, 2013.

Members of organisation Film Independent, including filmmakers and movie fans, are eligible to vote for the winners at www.spiritawards.com
