Director tells film's scriptwriter to shoot song

Mammootty starrer 1988 film ‘Dinarathrangal’ featured only one song, which was included in the film after much deliberations. Joshiy, who directed the film, showed little interest to include the song "Thirunellikkadu Poothu"….in the film as he was busy with the shooting of the major portions of the movie.

Joshiy knew that the film’s scriptwriter Dennis Joseph had the ambition of becoming a director. At that time, Dennis had become a popular scriptwriter through films like ‘New Delhi’ (1987).

Due to his tight schedule, Joshiy assigned Dennis to shoot the song in one night and also told him that he was unsure if he could include it in the film.

Dennis lapped up the opportunity and shot the film on the outskirts of Chennai at night. Interestingly, the green fields appearing in the film are created in Chennai for the shoot. Dennis could shoot the song portions reasonably well and the song went on to become a hit.

The song was written by Shibu Chakravarthy, and composed by Ouseppachan. It was melodiously sung by M. G. Sreekumar and K. S. Chithra. The song features actors Mukesh and Parvathy. Click the Movie button below for more info:
