'Devdas' will always be special, says Shah Rukh Khan

Mumbai: On the 14th anniversary of the release of "Devdas" on Tuesday, it's lead actor Shah Rukh Khan said the 2002 Bollywood film will always be special to him.


"Devdas" directed by filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, tells the story about a man named Devdas, who is in love with Paro since childhood. But when Devdas's family doesn't approve of their relationship, he leaves the house and seeks refuge at a brothel, owned by Chandramukhi.


Reminiscing the film, Shah Rukh took to micro-blogging site Twitter to thank the director and the cast.


"'Devdas' will always be special. Thank you Bhansali...the beautiful ladies and everyone. Late nights, long shoots and so much love," he tweeted.


The film saw actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the role of Paro, Devdas's love interest and Madhuri Dixit Nene as Chandramukhi, a courtesan who falls in love with the 50-year-old actor's onscreen character.


Based on the 1917 Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay's novel "Devdas", the film also featured Kirron Kher and Jackie Shroff among many others in pivotal roles. Click the Movie button below for more info:
