Mumbai, April 27 (IANS) Acclaimed writer-lyricist Javed Akhtar believes today's films are more real as compared to those made a few years ago.

"I feel that there is no melodrama today. I am talking about good films. Today the dialogues and conversations have become more real and characters are becoming more realistic," the 68-year-old said here Friday at a special screening of the film "Bombay Talkies".

"Bombay Talkies", by four directors - Karan Johar, Anurag Kashyap, Dibaker Banerjee and Javed's daughter Zoya, has been made in celebration of the centenary year of Indian cinema.

Talking about changes in Indian cinema, Javed said: "Things are not in water-tight compartment. Some things change while some remain as it is. Although a connection is there between them. Even today also we watch the old good films that appeals us."

But Javed feels "today's good films have a different temperament".

Javed, a National award-winning talent is known for penning popular films like "Andaaz', "Seeta Aur Geeta", "Yaadon Ki Baaraat", "Zanjeer", "Trishul", "Don", "Kaala Patthar" and "Shaan". He made a roaring team with Salim Khan, but has also written individually. He has written a string of popular songs as well.
