Sakshi Tanwar proud of her role in 'Mohalla Assi'
Mar 5, 2013 IANS"I have finished my part including dubbing and all. It is a beautiful subject. It's based in the 1980s in Benaras. Mr. Deol is playing a Sanskrit teacher and I am playing his wife. I am very proud of it, not only in terms of length but in terms of strength too," she said.
The actress, who made it big on the small screen with "Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii", did two short films - "O Re Manva" and "Bawra Mann". The former won the best international narrative short award at the New York International Film Festival in 2009.
"I have done some cameos so you can't say 'Mohalla Assi' is a debut. But this would make a difference in terms of the type of role," said Sakshi who did a small role in "Saluun".
Based on Kashinath Singh's Hindi novel "Kashi Ka Assi", the film set in the post-independence era and is abotu a teacher living in a historical 'mohalla' in Benaras.
When asked if "Mohalla Assi" came late to her, she said: "I never planned to do a film. Had I planned it, then it would have mattered. I was planning a vacation and I got a call."
After having established a strong foothold in the television industry, the actress said that she is not looking for anything special in films.
She is currently seen in the popular show "Bade Achhe Lagte Hain" and quite contented with the response.
"I am not looking forward to anything anywhere. Whatever happening with 'Bade...' is like a bonus period in my life. I am reaping the benefits of my hard work, dedication and sincerity. I am in a comfortable position where people connect to me and trust me. I don't think I have done enough to earn this," she said.
