'Four Two...' director faced tough times post Manmohan Desai's death
Dec 4, 2012 IANS"I did not want to direct a film which would lead people to say, 'Oh he was an assistant to Manmohanji (Desai) and what kind of a film has he made?' So I wanted to make films like Manmohanji, which can be seen by the whole family," Khan said in an interview here Monday.
"Four Two Ka One", releasing Dec 14, features Jimmy Shergill, Rajpal Yadav, Nikita Anand and Sushant Singh and hits theatres Dec 14.
Desai, known for movies like "Coolie", "Amar Akbar Anthony" and "Parvarish", died in 1994. Khan says he faced rough times in his career thereafter.
"I did not have any work, people didn't even hire me as an assistant. When I went searching for work after Manmohanji passed away, people used to say 'You are Manmohanji's assistant, what will you do for us'. I struggled because I did not get the kind of films that Manmohanji made," he said.
