'Dunno Y...Na Jaane Kyun' sequel to be light, breezy
May 25, 2013 IANSThe sequel is directed by Tonje Gjevon, a Norwegian.
Made by a Norwegian production house The Hungry Hearts, the film will be shot in Norway, and it will be made in Norwegian, English and Hindi. The genre of the sequel will be unlike the original, which was a serious drama, said a statement.
Actors Kapil Sharma and Yuvraaj Parashar, who played the lead characters in the original film, will act in the sequel too. This version will also have a melange of European, Pakistani and Indian actors playing pivotal roles.
"The original 'Dunno Y...' is a landmark film not only because of its international popularity, but also because of its cult bold unconventional approach to script as well as universal emotions. I was mesmerised by the performances of Kapil and Yuvraaj," Gjevjon said in a statement.
"In these boys, I can see the poise of Hollywood stars combined with the electric energy of Bollywood actors. Their screen characters Aryan and Ashley inspired me to wonder if these two characters were based in Europe instead of India, then how the story would unfold," she said.
After purchasing the sequel rights from the movie's producer Rajkumari Satyaprakash, it took Gjevjon more than a year to complete the script.
"Our company bought the sequel rights from its producers and the script took more than a year to complete. We will premiere it at prestigious festivals of Europe and will later have a wide release at the same time internationally as well as in India and Pakistan," she added.
The film's first schedule was in April and its final schedule will be completed in August.
"Dunno Y...Na Jaane Kyun" was about a gay couple, and their hardships of coming out of the closet.
