Assam joins Maharashtra and UP to give tax exemption to 'Mary Kom'

Guwahati: "As the movie revolves around boxer Mary Kom, the pride of the north-east and the country as a whole, we have decided to exempt it from entertainment tax", Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said.

Assam is the third state to declare the film tax-free, after Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh.

A biopic of the five-time World boxing champion and the Olympic bronze medal winner M. C. Mary Kom, the film "Mary Kom" is scheduled for release on Sep 5th.
