Anjala team accused of plagiarism

Recently the team of Vemal starrer Anjala had released a promo song from their film called Tea Podu. Looks like this concept has been copied from, Mami Boys, an independent music band, which includes Singapore-based Krisheno and two Chennai lads Caleb Jacobs and Kevi J.

The Mami boys say that Anjala team had copied the idea for their song from one of their songs Dum Tea which they had released in 2013. They also add that the song was their tribute to tea shops in which generally youngsters hang out and have fun.

But, Anjala director, Thangam Saravanan refutes this and says, “We launched the film in 2013 and the story revolves around a tea shop owner and it is inspired from events that I have come across in my life. When we were discussing about a promo song, we decided to pay tribute to tea by making a video showing the stages of tea from its origin to the time it ends up in the hands of the tea drinker”.
