AL Vijay postpones his Vanamagan due to industry strike
May 10, 2017 JB"Dear Friends & Media, Happy to share that Think Big Studios' Vanamagan was censored today, 9th of May with 'U' and the film received good appreciation from the board for its theme and presentation. I am thankful to Jayam Ravi sir for believing in me and delivering his best in the film and to music director Harris Jayaraj for bringing out chartbuster music with lyricist Karky, cinematographer S.Thirunavukkarasu sir for the mind-blowing visuals and to my entire team for the fantastic job done. Both the trailer and the songs are on top of the charts, which make the film as one of the most expected during this summer.
Though we are fully ready for the scheduled release of the film on 19th May 2017, Tamil Film Producer's Council President Thiru Vishal has advised us not to release the film, as the Tamil film Industry is planning for a shutdown of new films release and shooting from 30th May, which will leave hardly 11 days for the film in theatres. Even our distributors have cautioned against releasing the film without this clarity on the proposed strike. We are left with no option other than postponing the film's release to 23rd June 2017. In the larger interest of the Tamil film industry, we are accepting and postponing the release.
We are hopeful that the proposed strike gets the attention of the Governments involved and the issues faced by the industry are addressed on war footing, so that the Industry comes out of the problems it is in. We thank all our media friends & Thiru Vishal for the whole-hearted support to our film and to the fans of Jayam Ravi sir & Vanamagan and request you to continue the support. We assure you to offer one of the best heartwarming and purposeful entertainers from our team on 23rd June 2017.
Thank you again,
