Adam Sandler tops the list of Forbes' Most Overpaid Actors twice in a row
Dec 24, 2014 NRActor Adam Sandler has, for the second year in a row, topped the list of Forbes' Most Overpaid Actors.
Bolstered by the lack of success for his latest film Blended, Forbes says Sandler only pulled in $3.20 for every $1 that studios paid him. That is actually worse than his performance last year, when he made the studios $3.40 for every $1 he was paid.
To compile the list, Forbes’ analysts examine the last three movies the actor was in and compare those combined grosses with his or her combined paycheck, generating an investment return figure for each star.
Although Sandler’s film Grown Ups 2 was a hit, pulling in $246m at the global box office, it didn’t go far enough to make up for the 48 year-old’s previous flops, Jack and Jill and That’s My Boy.
Johnny Depp came in at a fairly distant second on the list, returning $4.10 for every $1 because of recent misses like The Lone Ranger, Transcendence and Dark Shadows. Ben Stiller came in third—$4.80 for every $1. Ryan Reynolds, Tom Hanks, Will Ferrell, and Ben Affleck also make appearances on the list.
The complete list is as follows:
1. Adam Sandler: returns $3.20 for every $1 paid.
2. Johnny Depp: returns $4.10 for every $1 paid.
3. Ben Stiller: returns $4.80 for every $1 paid.
