PRIYANKA KHANNA
From indolent Nawabs chewing betel nuts to regular denizens going about their day-to-day life even as they surmount subtle signs of marginalisation and alienation, the caricature of Indian Muslims on Indian celluloid has undergone many changes.

Onam Releases
NOWRUNNING
With Onam just round the corner, the Malayalam film industry is getting ready to cash in on the festival season. It is to be noted however, that compared to previous years, this year seems rather dry as far as Malayalam cinema is concerned, especially from the box office point of view, since there is not likely to be much competition.

It has been a largely tepid year so far in Bollywood, with nothing that was really worth standing up and applauding for- with maybe, the rare exception of a brave Black Friday or Parzania. No, not even the over-hyped Guru, which- Abhishek Bachchan's admirable performance notwithstanding- remains just a good film, not something to treasure, and surely not among Mani Ratnam's better works.

They came in a sweeping swamp of genres, styles, moods and tempo - from the metro-centric "Home Delivery" to the salacious "Neal 'N' Nikki", from the Bangkok-bang-bang "Ek Ajnabee" to the bluffer's guide "Bluffmaster" to the earthy "Kalyug".

SUBHASH K. JHA, OCT 2
There was a time in Bollywood when only gangsters and their sidekicks belonged to Bihar. All that is changing now. The leading men and women are no longer bashful of portraying Bihari characters.
